Sinks

Traditional style sinks, like the Butler and Belfast, have become very fashionable. Customers often choose them because they are sturdy and large enough to accommodate a big roasting pan. They look particularly attractive in a country-style painted kitchen or when a farmhouse look is desired.

Over the past few years sink manufacturers have realised that customers need larger sinks to accommodate the trays and shelves that come with range cookers and over-sized ovens. They have increased their range of larger sinks in stainless steel and ceramic, that can be undermounted into a granite worktop. These are easy to clean and maintain the clean lines in the kitchen.

If your kitchen is large, or you want an island, two sinks might be more convenient than one. Underwood can plan a small sink in your island unit that will be handy for washing vegetables or for just washing your hands. This can reduce the times you walk back and forth and make your kitchen more convenient to work in

There are dozens of sinks to choose from and your Underwood designer will help you select the one that works best for you and your kitchen.

Worktops

Worktops

A beautiful worktop puts the finishing touch on a beautiful Kitchen. Natural materials, such as granite and marble, have become much more accessible and have grown in popularity.

Granite is an igneous rock formed deep within the earth. It has a speckled, grainy appearance and is available in a wide range of colours. Granite is very durable and resistant to stains. Most granite is available in 30mm thickness, but can be built up to create a thicker worktop, if desired. Its vast range of colours makes it particularly attractive when used with Underwood’s solid wood kitchens.

Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is transformed under extreme pressure. Although pure marble is white, the impurities in many marbles create special colours and patterns. Marble is softer and more porous than granite but is often used as a surface for making pastry and bread. Because of its porous qualities it is not always recommended for kitchens.

Corian is a composite of natural materials and pure acrylic polymer. It has a smooth appearance and is very easy to clean. In addition to being quite scratch and stain resistant it is non-porous and very hygienic. Corian is available in over 100 colours and offers extraordinary design flexibility. It can be used for worktops, splash backs and integral sinks.

Wooden worktops add warmth and charm to a traditional kitchen. Hardwoods such as Maple, Oak, Iroko, Cherry and Walnut are frequently used for worktops. To preserve the life of the wood, prevent water marks and other stains, woods must be treated with oil or lacquer.

Hand Made in American Oak

A stunningly crafted American Oak and hand painted kitchen. It has a unique two-tier island with a sweeping granite worktop come breakfast bar. This is complimented by stainless steel appliances and an island extractor. The final result is a timeless Underwood design that fits in perfectly in this lovely new property.

Contemporary Curves - Bespoke Kitchens

This curvy maple and cherry wood kitchen has been designed to create a stunning flowing space. We have complimented the bespoke furniture with granite for the main work area, maple for the breakfast bar and oiled iroko for the integral chopping board. It is a contemporary undulating kitchen which is now the exciting heart of the home.

Grand designs - Grand gesture and Stunning Kitchens

The walnut and hand painted furniture of this design blend perfectly to make a light, bright kitchen. Elegant Wolf and Sub Zero appliances make sure the space has a modern practical feel while the crafting on the doors and corbels suggests links to a more classic age. Beautiful.

A fabulous truly bespoke kitchen that is stunning.

Baby Blue

The furniture of this kitchen is hand painted and includes elements of Oak. The islands design has an interesting mix of granite and wood for practicality and a beautiful visual effect. To soften the lines of the kitchen curved furniture has been used to create a stunning elegant space.

Cherry Sensation

This kitchen is classic yet contemporary and features bespoke cherry and hand painted Underwood furniture. The curved lines and stunning ‘chef’s pantry’ really give it the WOW factor. It is magnificently designed to ensure that each item of furniture works in unison with this oak framed property.

Craftmanship is essential

When you are looking for a new kitchen it is so easy to be taken in by the "off the shelf" solutions offered by so many of the multiples and sheds. Some of which do actually look very good and will perform fairly well (for a while). But when you want the best, with true craftsmanship, quality ash, oak and fabulous granite surfaces with ovens, chillers and ranges that are built to last your lifetime, you know it makes sense to go to designer that will make exactly what you want in the materials you want and will truly make a stunning environment that will exceed your expectations.
